When the House of Representatives authorized funds to install an electronic tally system in the House Chamber, the members did not realize that the installation of the 70-inch diagonal Sharp television monitors around the second-floor railing would run into visual difficulties. Specifically, the lights from the chandelier that is suspended around the Chamber were reflecting on the display screens which were situated just six feet away and about the same level. The lights were so strong that the glare projected on the display, made it very hard to see the information displayed. It did not help the situation that the graphics used were red, green, and white over a black background.
Totally out of ideas to fix this issue on his own, the IT Director for the General Assembly turned to NuShield for a solution. NuShield recommended its Triple A™ anti-glare screen protector film which has been designed specifically to eliminate this type of glare projected onto LCD surfaces. The film has an antiglare, anti-fingerprint and antibacterial coating, and an easy-to-apply tacky rubberized backing. The film also has a matte finish that tones down the glare and can be cleaned easily with commercial cleaners.
A test piece of film was ordered and installed to measure the effectiveness and the IT Director was elated with the results. The NuShield Triple A film was able to reduce the glare to an acceptable level and the information displayed was able to be read from the floor of the Chamber. An order was placed to outfit all the other monitors and NuShield was able to deliver the films in a couple of days. By the time the Legislature reconvened for its Spring session, all the NuShield anti-glare films were installed and the representatives were satisfied with the solution to the glare problem.
The NuShield Triple A anti-glare film is available to reduce glare on surfaces such as LCD, LED, and Plasma displays used in electronic devices. The film works best indoors where strong light sources project onto the display or outdoors under a covered area where the display reflects the surrounding environment. However, NuShield recommends its DayVue anti-reflective film if the display is placed in direct sunlight. Both films are available in sizes as small as a camera viewfinder to a piece large enough to cover an 80-inch diagonal TV display. In some cases, the film can be butted together to provide protection from glare on even larger displays or storefront windows.
