For the 2019 IndyCar racing season, the Andretti team once again will use the NuShield DayVue anti-reflective screen protector to eliminate reflection from the LCD display on the race car’s steering wheel.
Since 2017, racing teams had to adopt the Cosworth CDU 4.3 electronic digital display system in competition cars. The display provides the driver with vital information about speed, engine performance, fuel and other critical functions. This allows drivers and crew chiefs an exact understanding of what is happening in the car as well as what adjustments need to be made.
The LCD display however reflects sun glare back at the driver during races. In an open-cockpit concept, there is no escape from sun glare and reflection. That is why the team turned to NuShield to help provide a solution to eliminate this glare.
After a great racing season in 2018, NuShield is proud to announce that for the second year in a row, the Andretti team selected the NuShield DayVue anti-reflective screen protector film to help its drivers eliminate the glare off the display in their race cars. The NuShield DayVue anti-reflective film eliminates the glare bouncing off the panel and allows the driver to clearly read the display, even with the racing helmet and shield in place.
The film is cut precisely to size and installs easily onto the display. The slight tacky backing holds the film to the display, but can be quickly removed and exchanged if necessary without leaving unsightly bubbles that can interfere with visibility. NuShield is also working with other racing teams who are also testing the film for their display.
NuShield, Inc. has been one of the leading manufacturers of custom made screen protector films. These are military grade films that are used in the harshest environments to protect electronic display screens. The company offers several film types for various market needs. The DayVue anti-reflective screen protector has been used by drivers with convertible cars for years to clearly read their displays while driving with the top down in direct sunlight or while wearing polarized sunglasses.
NuShield currently offers film sizes to fit over 15,000 devices including smartphones, tablets, handhelds, instruments, monitors and new devices as they come to market. The company sells directly to end users as well as device manufacturers, distributors and resellers around the world.
