The moment Samsung, Sony or LG come with something innovative you can bet that the rest of the industry will not be left far behind. It should be stated, however, that 2017 has not been the best year regarding innovation. Given the fact that any progress made by TVs has continually been overshadowed by advancements made by smartphones and virtual reality sets, manufacturers have been forced to focus on the one thing that gives them an edge; the enhanced screen technology on large TVs.
4K resolution
Going by sales alone, it is quite clear that the family TV has now switched from the 55-inch to the 65-inch. This means that large TVs are not going anywhere anytime soon. This surge in sales augers well for 4K technology which has been found to work better on large TVs. Given how virtually all new releases set for 2017 have 4K resolution, one can count on this new technology setting the standard for all future releases. Non-4K TVs are going to begin slowly moving out of your local electronics shop soon.
HDR is taking over
HDR which stands for High Dynamic Range was introduced to the Television industry in 2016 and has since then grown to become a TV staple. You would be hard-pressed to find a new release that can’t easily support HDR content. While it is well known that this technology will not necessarily translate to a better viewing experience on TVs in the low price bracket, manufacturers will include the feature all the same because it is the standard set by the industry.
OLED technology isn’t going anywhere
OLED technology is here to stay. While LG and SONY have consistently tried to introduce something new that can match LG’s dominance in manufacturing OLED TVs, they have been unable to keep up with the excellent picture quality and aesthetics that come along with OLED technology. In any case, should they successfully come up with a new innovative product, LG can always reduce the prices on their large TVs.
Curved screen models
Curved screen TVs came on a couple of years ago, but at the recent Consumer Electronics show there were none found at the manufacturers’ booth. Curves are going away because consumers did not jump aboard, just like the 3D feature.
NuShield Screen Protectors
An important aspect of the viewing experience that could hamper your comfort despite having the best TV technology is the glare that results from light being reflected into their eyes. This is especially important given the fact that newest TV releases do not have the matte finish meant to reduce this glare. Nushield screen protectors offer a solution to this problem.
- Nushield Dayvue Screen protectors– this film will help reduce glare if you plan to place your TV outdoors in direct sunlight. However, this is not an ideal place to install a large TV unless you have a special case to protect it against the elements.
- Nushield Triple A protectors- This film has that matte finish that effectively reduces the glare emanating from the screen of large TVs. This is the film to use indoors to eliminate glare off the screen and can also be used outdoors when the TV is placed in a Florida room or under an awning where there is no direct sunlight.
Nushield films are available for most TVs on the market and NuShield will work with you to create a size that fits your screen if they don’t already list your model. Visit the NuShield website or call 215 500-6426.
